Racist attack in Trappes: Pengo Bossio Wangi’s family demands justice

One week after the racist shooting in Trappes and La Verrière, the family of Pengo Bossio Wangi is demanding that responsibility be established and the circumstances fully examined. At about 10 a.m. on Friday, October 23, a man opened fire from his car, killing the MMA prospect and injuring several people. The suspect, 39-year-old Kévin Tessier, admitted targeting people he perceived as Muslim, African or North African and has been charged with murder linked to a terrorist enterprise, with a racial aggravating circumstance. Pengo’s father said he would trust the justice system despite his anger and grief, while family lawyer Zineb Alami condemned the dehumanization of French people perceived as foreign because of their skin colour or origins.
