Rafiki Microfinance Bank loses tax fight with KRA

The Tax Appeal Tribunal upheld a Sh47.8 million tax demand against Rafiki Microfinance Bank concerning suspended interest from non-performing loans. The bank argued that such interest should not be taxed as income until realized. However, the tribunal ruled that Rafiki failed to provide verifiable proof linking the suspended amounts to properly classified non-performing loans.
