Reason I may not run for president after 2027 – Obi - Daily Post Nigeria

Peter Obi, presidential candidate of the Nigeria Democratic Congress (NDC), said he is unlikely to run after 2027 due to Nigeria's informal zoning arrangement that rotates the presidency between the North and South. In an interview with Rufai Oseni, the former Anambra governor explained that if he does not win in 2027, the presidency will shift to the North in 2031. He added that at age 78 when it returns to the South, he would not want to run. Obi would only consider another bid if the presidency remained in the South in 2031, but considers that probability very slim.
