Reform Package: What Feminists Proposed to the Senegalese Government

Feminist organizations have reported 25 cases of femicide in Senegal since January 2026, advocating for this crime to be recognized in the Penal Code. Justice Minister Me Moussa Sarr expressed support for this request and announced the establishment of a permanent dialogue framework. Activists emphasize that these murders are part of a continuum of patriarchal violence and also advocate for a reform of the Family Code and the legalization of medical abortion in cases of rape or incest.
