Reports Detail Ambition, Challenges of the Spain-Morocco Tunnel

The Spain-Morocco tunnel project faces significant challenges, including seismic activity and strong marine currents in the Strait of Gibraltar. The public company Secegsa received funding of 4.7 million euros in 2024, followed by a new investment of 1.76 million euros in March 2026 for technical studies. Although the final budget has not been confirmed, estimates range between 15 and 30 billion euros, and the tunnel is not expected to be operational before 2040.
