Reps demand immediate rescue of 116 schoolchildren, other Borno abductees

The Nigerian House of Representatives has called for intensified security operations to secure the immediate and safe release of 116 schoolchildren and other victims abducted in Borno State. The motion was presented by Rep. Midala Balami, highlighting the prolonged captivity of victims abducted in Mussa, Lassa, and along the Buratai–Maiduguri Road, with captives held for over 70 to 160 days. The lawmakers urged enhanced search-and-rescue efforts, better intelligence sharing, and increased patrols along vulnerable areas, as well as support for affected families through relief and psychological aid.
