Nigeria’s House of Representatives has called for urgent security and humanitarian intervention after an attack on Binnari market in Taraba State on October 23, 2026, reportedly killed between 57 and 60 people. Lawmaker Mohammed Audu said the attackers shot 10 people dead, while panic led others to jump into a river. The assailants allegedly returned to nearby Gomben Dela on October 26, looting food and seizing vehicles; no deaths were reported there. Reps urged stronger security coordination across Taraba, Plateau and Bauchi, relief for affected families, and completion of the Wase-Karim Lamido road.
