Research Brigade: Investigators seize over one billion in counterfeit banknotes

Six individuals were arrested in Dakar, Mbour, Thiès, and Louga during operations by Dakar's Research Brigade. Authorities seized over one billion CFA francs in foreign currencies, including 22 packets of 300 dollar bills, ten blocks of 1,000 euro bills, and six blocks of blackened euro notes, totaling approximately 1.1 billion CFA. The seizure also included a firearm, ammunition, chemicals, counterfeit stamps, a bulletproof vest, a dagger, and bottles containing mercury. The investigation is ongoing to determine the extent of the network and possible accomplices.
