RHDP in Adjamé: Longtime activist in judicial custody after denouncing the mayor’s management

Fousseni Konaté, a business operator close to the RHDP, is being held by judicial authorities after criticizing the management of Adjamé municipality, led by Soumahoro Farikou. His October 3 remarks questioned projects for a police station and youth centers that he said existed in administrative documents but not on the ground, as well as spending on luxury vehicles and alleged pressure against critics. Konaté was summoned to the police prefecture, identified the mayor as the complainant, and said he had evidence for his allegations. Municipal councillors responded that the relevant investment spending had a financial execution rate of about 4%, noting that an approved budget does not mean the allocated funds have already been spent.

He noted that Kwankwaso was Deputy Speaker of the House of Representatives before Obi entered national politics, and later served two terms as Kano State governor and as a federal minister. Ahmad contrasted that record with Obi’s former leadership of Anambra State.

Alake Admits Tinubu Has Yet to Fulfil Electricity Promise, Says Work Is in Progress

Dele Alake, spokesperson for the APC Presidential Campaign Council, acknowledged that Bola Tinubu has not yet resolved Nigeria’s electricity challenges, three years into his presidency. He defended the administration’s measures, including the 2023 Electricity Act, which allows states to participate in the power sector, and a 4 trillion naira bond programme to settle verified debts. Alake said the programme’s first two phases raised more than 1.2 trillion naira, while the Presidential Metering Initiative provided meters to over 1.5 million customers. He also defended moving tariffs towards cost-reflective levels and said protections were in place for low-income households.
