Rivers Chief Judge releases 14 inmates in legal year ceremony

Fourteen inmates were released from Port Harcourt Maximum Security Custodial Centre by Rivers State Chief Judge Justice Simeon Chibuzor-Amadi. The release marked the opening of the 2026/2027 legal year of the Rivers State Judiciary. Justice Chibuzor-Amadi stated that the exercise was conducted under legal provisions to reduce overcrowding and to free inmates who had served longer than their sentences or whose trials had been delayed through no fault of theirs.
