Road Checks in Senegal: The Interior Minister Issues New Firm Instructions

Interior Minister Ahmadou Bamba Cissé issued instructions to the High Commander of the National Gendarmerie and the Director General of the National Police regarding compliance with regulations on road checkpoints. In a document dated April 10, 2026, he recalls Decree No. 2021-1600 and Interministerial Order No. 040016, which establish checkpoints on each national corridor. Violations outside these official points will continue to be sanctioned according to the Highway Code.
