Rocade South-West in Kinshasa: access forbidden to motorized vehicles after an accident

The Congolese Agency for Major Works (ACGT) has banned all motorized vehicles from accessing the South-West Bypass in Kinshasa following an accident involving a heavy truck on this still-under-construction road. The measure aims to ensure safety and smooth progress of the ongoing works, with increased traffic control in collaboration with security services. A study identified risks including poor signage, lack of road markings, speeding, and dangerous user behaviors, recommending improvements like enhanced signage and the installation of speed bumps.
