Rome: C64 demands Prince Epenge’s release and appeals to the international community

Meeting in Rome, the five members of the opposition coalition C64’s presidium — Martin Fayulu, Moïse Katumbi, Delly Sesanga, Augustin Matata Ponyo and Jean-Marc Kabund — demanded Prince Epenge’s immediate release and appealed to the international community. Epenge has been held at Kinshasa’s National Cyber Defense Council since Sunday, after being arrested at N’djili airport while preparing to travel with the delegation. He is accused of “spreading false rumors” after describing as an assassination the death of Manassé Lomboto, his party’s security officer, who died after the C64 march on September 15. The meeting is the coalition’s first in-person gathering since its creation in May to pressure Félix Tshisekedi to leave office in 2028.

Now active in the Social Pact for Governance, Fotsing says she can recognize her former leader’s qualities while criticizing the party’s practices.
