Ronaldo in line for Portugal return after fallout with coach

Cristiano Ronaldo is in Portugal’s preliminary squad for next month’s Nations League matches following his fallout with coach Jorge Jesus. The 41-year-old left the team camp on September 30 and accused Jesus of breaking a promise to give him playing time. His 30-day suspension, imposed by the federation and backdated, will end before Jesus names the final squad on November 6; Portugal face Denmark and Wales on November 14 and 17. Ronaldo, men’s international football’s all-time leading scorer and appearance-maker, apologised to supporters and said he was not retiring from international duty.
