Spanish long jumper Julieta Gallego among victims of deadly train collision

The Royal Spanish Athletics Federation paid tribute to 24-year-old long jumper Julieta Gallego, a member of Madrid-based AD Sprint, who died in the train collision in Urda, in Toledo province. Gallego regularly competed in Spain’s club championships and set her personal best of 5.90 metres in Antequera in 2023. The high-speed train collision killed at least 68 people and injured about 80, including 50 seriously and 15 critically. It was the second deadly accident in less than a year on the line linking Madrid with southern Andalusia.
