Rubio presses Lebanon to confiscate Hezbollah weapons

Lebanese President Joseph Aoun told US Secretary of State Marco Rubio that Lebanese security forces were confiscating illicit arms across the country. The previous week, authorities intercepted a truck carrying 780kg of explosives on a highway between Beirut and the Bekaa Valley; Hezbollah lawmaker Hassan Fadlallah acknowledged the shipment was linked to the group and intended for operations against Israel. Rubio called for those who ordered and financed the shipment to be held accountable and said the explosives should not be returned to Hezbollah. Aoun asked Rubio to press Israel to stop its attacks and destruction in southern Lebanon.
