Russia ready to resume talks with Ukraine and US to end war

Russia is “ready in principle” to resume talks with Ukraine and the United States, Vladimir Putin’s aide Yuriy Ushakov said after the Russian president met US envoy Steve Witkoff in St Petersburg for about three hours. Kyiv has called for an immediate restart of trilateral discussions, suspended in February, and Ushakov said another round could take place around 10 November. He dismissed as not very useful ideas raised by Volodymyr Zelensky and the leaders of Norway and Finland. Ushakov said negotiations should focus on establishing a security system for Russia and Ukraine after the conflict ends.
