Russia targets Kyiv as Finnish and Norwegian leaders hold rare call with Putin

Russia struck transport infrastructure in Kyiv, including the South Bridge, in overnight attacks involving 16 ballistic missiles and more than 280 drones. Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelenskyy called the attacks an escalation targeting logistics; strikes also caused deaths and injuries in Kharkiv, Pavlohrad, Zaporizhzhia region and the Russian city of Bryansk. Finnish President Alexander Stubb and Norwegian Prime Minister Jonas Gahr Store called Vladimir Putin from Helsinki and also spoke with Zelenskyy as Kyiv and Moscow prepared for US-mediated technical talks in Abu Dhabi in early November.
