Russia Used a New Drone Against Power Lines, Zelensky Adviser Says

On September 30, Ukraine reported the first use of a Russian drone equipped with a warhead designed to cut high-voltage power lines. Serhiï Beskrestnov, Zelensky’s defense technology adviser, stated that the KRSN warhead, combining a 40 kg main charge with four additional modules, was aimed at destroying pylons and steel structures. Russia, employing the Geran family of drones derived from Iran’s Shahed-136, has upgraded its drones by replacing the propeller with a turbojet, exemplified by the Geran-5, which can carry a 90 kg warhead over nearly 1000 km.
