Ruto Hints at Moving 2026 Jamhuri Day Celebrations to Taita Taveta

President William Ruto has indicated that the government may move the 63rd Jamhuri Day celebrations from Kiambu to Taita-Taveta if the new Vindo Stadium in Voi is completed on time. During a land title issuance event, he stated that the decision would depend on the stadium's readiness and residents' preferences. The stadium, with a capacity of 10,000, is under construction and aims to be finished before December 12. Kenya has been increasingly decentralizing national celebrations outside Nairobi to promote regional participation.
