Ruto, Infantino Discuss Plans for FIFA-Standard Stadium in Mombasa

President William Ruto and FIFA President Gianni Infantino discussed plans for a FIFA-standard stadium in Mombasa during the UN General Assembly in New York on September 24, 2026. The proposed stadium aims to serve the Coast region and establish Kenya as a hub for international football and sports tourism. The meeting also covered the development of regional technical centres to nurture young talent and progress on the FIFA Arena project and a modern technical centre. This follows a previous agreement in August 2025 on a Ksh600 million National Technical Centre in Machakos supported by FIFA.
