Kenyan Deputy President Kithure Kindiki said President William Ruto is expected to launch construction of the Nairobi-Thika Expressway within one to two months. The plan is for an elevated road of about 60 kilometres linking Thika to Museum Hill in Nairobi to ease congestion on a route serving Thika, Ruiru and Juja. A feasibility study is assessing possible routes, engineering needs, costs, and environmental and social impacts. Preliminary estimates put the project’s cost at Ksh150 billion to Ksh200 billion.
