Rwanda will host a Formula 1 Grand Prix in the early 2030s, marking the sport's return to Africa after 32 years. Rwandan President Paul Kagame announced the project during an official presentation, revealing that a new circuit will be built near Kigali, at Bugesera. The last race in Africa was held in 1993 at Kyalami, South Africa, which still aims to host F1 before 2030. Rwanda, investing in sports and sporting diplomacy, launched its bid in late 2024 against South Africa.
