Rynfield sewage crisis worsens as rising Boat Lake water submerges pump station

Rising water levels have left Rynfield’s Boat Lake sewer pump station submerged, forcing municipal workers to walk through the dam for maintenance. The City of Ekurhuleni reported that the pump station, once on dry land, is now fully submerged, making the system vulnerable to stormwater infiltration. City Manager Kagiso Lerutla stated that measures taken have not fully resolved the issue, particularly during heavy rainfall.
