Jigawa State’s Commissioner for Budget and Economic Planning warned that food insecurity, malnutrition, climate change, declining farm productivity and post-harvest losses threaten food security in northern Nigeria. He spoke on Monday in Dutse at a biannual review meeting on the food systems transformation strategy for the region’s 19 states. He also called for stronger partnerships and support for smallholder farmers, women, young people and vulnerable households.
