Red Sea nations watch as Houthis seize Bab al-Mandeb strait

The Houthis have taken control of Yemen's entire Red Sea coastline, capturing the port city of Mocha and the strategic island of Mayyun. They are now positioned just 20 kilometers from the African coast, effectively controlling the Bab al-Mandeb strait, a crucial chokepoint for maritime traffic. Over 2,000 people have fled Yemen to Djibouti due to Houthi advances, and the International Organization for Migration has warned that more support is needed.
