Sacco accounts holding millions rise to 154,000

The number of Sacco accounts with deposits over 1 million shillings increased by 10 percent to 154,000 in 2025, according to the Sacco Societies Regulatory Authority (Sasra). This figure rose from 140,000 in 2024, 98,000 in 2023, and 50,000 in 2019. Most savers still hold less than 50,000 shillings, highlighting ongoing inequality.
