Saint-Louis: Imam’s son sentenced to two years in prison for ecstasy trafficking

The Saint-Louis gendarmerie’s investigation brigade dismantled a suspected ecstasy trafficking network, involving a synthetic drug locally known as “souss,” after receiving a tip about sales in the city. An undercover operation and surveillance in the Diamaguène neighborhood led to the arrest of M. Dia, described as the son of a well-known imam, with ecstasy tablets in his possession. Charged with criminal conspiracy, possession and drug trafficking, he was sentenced to two years in prison after a fast-track trial. C. M., his alleged accomplice, fled and remains wanted.
