Sanusi, Bayero set for separate royal processions in Kano

Kano will host two separate royal processions on September 27, 2026. The 16th Emir of Kano, Muhammadu Sanusi II, will lead his procession from Gidan Tunda, passing through Kofar Kwaru and Mandawari, heading to Galadanci. The 15th Emir, Aminu Ado Bayero, will leave his palace for Mandawari, then pass through Kofar Kwaru to attend a Qur’anic graduation ceremony at Unguwar Yakasai. The overlapping routes, including Mandawari and Kofar Kwaru, are expected to draw attention and potential tensions, as the two traditional rulers have been in conflict since Sanusi II’s reinstallation, supported by the federal government, while Bayero resides at Nassarawa Palace.
