Sanusi regrets delaying telcos’ entry into financial services

The Emir of Kano, Muhammadu Sanusi II, expressed regret over the delay in allowing telecommunications companies to enter Nigeria's financial services sector. At the launch of the 2026 Access to Financial Services survey, he emphasized that telcos had the necessary infrastructure to enhance financial inclusion, particularly in underserved communities. Sanusi also stressed the importance of linking financial services to the real economy, including agriculture and manufacturing.
