Sao Tome and Principe: Carlos Vila Nova begins his second term as head of state

Carlos Vila Nova was sworn in on Thursday to begin his second term as president of Sao Tome and Principe. He won the presidential elections on July 19 with 55% of the votes against three opponents. Vila Nova, who has been in charge since 2021, promised to uphold the Constitution and advocates for the diversification of the economy, which is currently focused on cocoa production.
