Saraya: A 23-Year-Old Herder Killed by Lightning

Manga Diallo, a 23-year-old herder, was fatally struck by lightning on Monday evening around 7 p.m. in a farming hamlet near Kéniékho, in the Sabodala commune (Saraya department). He was tending a cow during a violent storm; both the man and the animal were killed. He leaves behind a wife and a one-month-old infant, and was buried Tuesday morning in Sountoucolon. This tragedy highlights the risks of severe thunderstorms that affect the Kédougou region each year.
