Scott Mills confirms he was investigated by police in first statement since sacking

Scott Mills confirmed he was investigated for a sexual offence following his sacking from the BBC. The investigation, launched in 2016 and closed in 2019, concerned allegations dating back to the late 1990s. Mills expressed gratitude to those who supported him and requested respect for his privacy regarding the matter. The BBC stated it was aware of the investigation in 2017 but dismissed Mills after new information came to light.
