SDP condemns attempts to disqualify ADC presidential candidate Atiku

The Social Democratic Party (SDP) condemned alleged efforts to disqualify African Democratic Congress (ADC) presidential candidate Atiku Abubakar and called for parties to be free to field candidates in the 2027 elections. Speaking in Abuja, national chairman Sadiq Gombe urged the judiciary, security agencies and electoral commission INEC to remain impartial. The SDP rejected the proposed “Rainbow Coalition” and said it would contest under its own platform, with Adewole Adebayo as its presidential candidate and Usman Bugaje as his running mate. Gombe also accused the ruling APC of trying to infiltrate and weaken opposition parties, while pledging cooperation with other parties on agent training and vote protection.
