SDP elects Sadiq Gombe as national chairman

The Social Democratic Party (SDP) elected Professor Sadiq Gombe as its national chairman during its 2026 national convention. Usman Bugaje, chairman of the SDP's Convention Planning Committee, accused the All Progressives Congress (APC) of plunging Nigerians into poverty. Additionally, Kingsley Chinda, an ally of Nyesom Wike, was cleared by the APC to contest in the gubernatorial primaries.
