Senate queries SEDC, accuses commission of spending N153m on Abuja office rent

The Senate has questioned the South East Development Commission (SEDC) over the management of its 2025 budget funds, particularly N153 million spent on renting a liaison office in Abuja. The commission received N16.6 billion but has spent about N3.6 billion, according to the Senate committee. Committee chairman Orji Uzor Kalu expressed disappointment with the financial report. Managing Director Mark Okoye defended the expenditures as prudent and in line with available resources.
