Senegal: 1,200 solar streetlights installed in Saly and Diamniadio for the 2026 Youth Olympic Games

Senegal’s National Agency for Renewable Energy (ANER) has installed 1,200 solar streetlights in Saly and Diamniadio at a cost of 1.5 billion CFA francs ahead of the Dakar 2026 Youth Olympic Games, scheduled for October 31 to November 13. ANER Director General Thierno Alia Mbengue said the work took 25 days. In Diamniadio, Me Moussa Diop, ANER officials and representatives of the Youth Olympic Games Organising Committee inspected the installations and checked whether technical adjustments were needed before delegations arrive. The project is part of a national program launched in 2019, whose third phase plans 303,000 solar streetlights nationwide at an estimated cost of nearly 390 billion CFA francs.
