Senegal terminates its contract with Ecotra, owned by businessman Abdoulaye Sylla

The Senegalese government has terminated lot 4 of a 1.999 billion CFA franc contract between the Emergency Community Development Programme (Pudc) and Ecotra, the company owned by businessman Abdoulaye Sylla. Funded by the African Development Bank, the contract covered construction of 44.5 kilometres of rural roads, with a 15-month deadline later extended by six months. The termination order, published in the Official Gazette on July 25, cites significant delays despite several formal notices. The government plans to call in the performance guarantee and impose late penalties.
