Senegalese Laureate Awarded on the Continental Stage for Environmental AI Innovation

Oulimata Rose Dia, a Senegalese engineer, won the Best Technical Contribution and Artificial Intelligence Award at the Yango fellowship in Abidjan, among over 600 African applicants. Her project, Smart Bin Collection, is a solar-powered, 2G-connected smart system that monitors trash levels in real-time to optimize waste collection in Dakar and other major Senegalese cities. This recognition highlights Senegal's growing role in African technology, supported by strong political will to develop skills in science and artificial intelligence.
