The Student List won Serbia’s snap parliamentary election, ending Aleksandar Vucic’s long grip on power. Partial results announced Monday by the Republic Election Commission gave it 52.54 percent of the vote, compared with 39.29 percent for the United Serbia list led by Vucic’s Serbian Progressive Party. Turnout reached 68.78 percent, a record in more than 30 years. The movement grew out of protests after 16 people died in the 2024 Novi Sad railway station canopy collapse and has pledged to fight corruption and organised crime and improve living standards, education and media freedom.
