Several Injured After 33-Seater Matatu Overturns Along Kangundo Road

A Forward Sacco matatu overturned at Umoja Junction on Kangundo Road at about 10 p.m. on Thursday, October 29, while carrying passengers home. Some passengers were trapped under the wreckage, and injured people were taken to Mama Lucy Kibaki Hospital; the exact casualty count was not immediately known. Footage circulating online appeared to show the vehicle speeding and overtaking several cars before the crash. Police arranged for the wreckage to be towed, and an investigation is expected to determine the cause.

PSC promotes 2 DIGs, 10 AIGs, 17 commissioners and more than 3,800 other officers

Nigeria’s Police Service Commission approved the promotion of more than 3,800 senior officers after promotion examinations and oral interviews, at a plenary meeting in Abuja chaired by retired DIG Hashimu Salihu Argungu. AIG Olaolu Adegbite, head of the INTERPOL National Central Bureau in Abuja, and AIG Dankombo F. Morris, head of Zone 4 Headquarters in Makurdi, were elevated to DIG. Ten commissioners were promoted to AIG and 17 deputy commissioners to commissioner; the commission also approved promotions for 85 ACPs to DCP and 49 CSPs.
