“Shameful campaign”: Pape Abdoulaye Touré attacks French media

Pape Abdoulaye Touré accuses some French media outlets of trying to tarnish Senegal’s and Africa’s image by reporting on places unrelated to the Youth Olympic Games instead of showing the competition venues. He criticizes their coverage of accommodation conditions, including fan-equipped rooms, heat and uncomfortable beds. In response, he points out that cardboard beds were provided to some athletes at the Paris 2024 Olympic Games. He attributes Senegal’s underdevelopment to centuries of the slave trade, colonization and neocolonialism, and says Senegalese people are proud of their history, culture and hospitality.
