Shipwreck on Lake Tanganyika: 39 Missing and 36 Rescued off Kabimba

Thirty-nine people are missing and 36 were rescued after the MV MJP ship sank on Lake Tanganyika off Kabimba on September 23. The vessel, traveling from Kigoma in Tanzania to Kalemie, reportedly carried a cargo exceeding its capacity, including over 480 tons of flour, four vehicles, and passengers. Search efforts continue to locate the missing, with the captain noting the boat began to tilt before sinking, despite no wind conditions reported by a survivor.
