Sikh group calls for public inquiry into Henry Nowak death

The Sikh Federation lobby group has written to Home Secretary Shabana Mahmood, Justice Secretary David Lammy, and Attorney General Richard Hermer calling for a public inquiry into the death of 18-year-old Henry Nowak, who was stabbed in Southampton in December 2025 by Vickrum Digwa, 23, using a knife he claimed he carried as part of his Sikh religion. The group says misinformation about the murder weapon has been highly damaging to Sikhs and raises serious questions about whether the death was preventable. Bodycam footage from Hampshire police shows Nowak, handcuffed, repeatedly saying 'I can't breathe' after being stabbed. A jury inquest is scheduled for next year.
