Singer Saad Lamjarred sentenced to 10 years in prison on appeal for rape

Moroccan singer Saad Lamjarred, aged 41, was sentenced to ten years in prison on Saturday in Créteil for aggravated rape, a harsher sentence than the six years initially given in 2023 by the Paris assize court. The case involves events from 2016 in a Paris hotel room, where Lamjarred, then 31, met Laura P., who was 20. Lamjarred maintains his innocence and has announced plans to appeal to the Court of Cassation.
