Slavery: Jamaica demands reparations and calls out Charles III

Jamaica has launched a legal offensive to seek answers from Britain regarding its responsibility in the transatlantic slave trade and slavery. The request, addressed to King Charles III, aims to refer three questions to the Judicial Committee of the Privy Council. Culture Minister Olivia Grange stated that this is a historic moment and represents a strong message for the recognition of historical wrongs and the demand for reparations. This initiative coincides with the anniversary of the departure of the slave ship Zong in 1781.
