‘Just the beginning’ for Antonelli, F1’s prodigious, charismatic new king

Kimi Antonelli became Formula One’s youngest world champion at 20 after clinching the title at the Mexico City Grand Prix. The Italian Mercedes driver finished third behind Max Verstappen and Lewis Hamilton, who later hoisted him aloft during the celebrations. Antonelli, Italy’s first champion since 1953, called the achievement a beginning and said he hoped to keep improving and battling the sport’s established champions. His race engineer, Peter “Bono” Bonnington, described him as a generational talent.
