SNEL installs new transformers to improve electricity supply in Lubumbashi

The National Electricity Company (SNEL) began installing new transformers in several neighborhoods of Lubumbashi, Haut-Katanga, on October 15, using its own funds. Four units were installed in the first phase, including a 400 kVA transformer in Golf Météo replacing an obsolete 250 kVA unit, and 400 kVA transformers in Kashamata and the Bruxelles cell of the Gécamines neighborhood. A Golf Météo resident welcomed the replacement after more than seven months without electricity, as residents link outages to insecurity and burglaries. SNEL plans to install more equipment in other neighborhoods to gradually improve electricity supply.
