SOBREMESA tribute to Sir Geoffrey Neiman set for Artscape

South Africa’s dance community will honour Sir Geoffrey Neiman, the dancer, choreographer and teacher who died in June, with a one-off performance titled SOBREMESA. Presented by Artscape and Cape Ballet Africa, the tribute is scheduled for October 28 at 7:30 p.m. at the Artscape Opera House, with proceeds going to the Theatre Benevolent Fund. Neiman helped promote Spanish dance, including through his role in establishing the Spanish Dance Society and developing its male syllabus. In 1999, Spain’s King Juan Carlos awarded him the Cruz de Oficial de la Orden de Isabel la Catolica for his contribution to Spanish culture and dance education.
