Social media increasingly important in local elections, says Brett Herron

Brett Herron, the GOOD Party's mayoral candidate for Cape Town, states that elections are increasingly contested in digital spaces. He noted that candidates with large social media followings, such as Cedric Laguma from the Democratic Alliance, face criticism for 'clout chasing'. Herron clarified that the GOOD Party has not recruited influencers, but those presenting themselves as candidates have gone through the same process as others.
